City of Bangkok
city of bangkok

Bangkok, the city where east and west meet. This busy metropolis contains huge shopping and business districts on Sukumvit and Silom road, beautiful peaceful temples like Wat Arun and Wat Pho, exotic markets like Chatuchak Market full of everything you would ever need and a Buddhist mentality that keeps the chaos in line. Bangkok is huge.

The city covers a 1500 square kilometer area and houses around 20 pct. of Thailand's total population. To the newcomer this can seem confusing. The city is not built after French principles. It is rather an example of lack of planning. However, as one starts exploring the city with its huge shopping streets and small secretive soi's, the innumerable offers of the city starts to reveal themselves, and the adventure that is Bangkok begins.

From the expensive outdoor rooftop restaurants like Vertigo and Sirocco to local watering holes with live Jazz like Brown Sugar to the major shopping complexes like Siam Paragon to long tail boats offering ferry services on the khlongs (small rivers) in the city, getting you to your destination much faster than any conventional mode of transportation, to the sometimes hidden temples and shrines that are shattered all over the city, some very unique like Sri Mariamman Temple to the many local markets and bazaars. Bangkok is a wealth of offers, and the more time you spend here, the more you find the amazing shown and hidden offers of the city.
