The lower sukhumvit area offers a vivid mix of options, from the more seedy soi Nana with its gogo and girlie bars to Q Bar with arguably the best selection of alcohol and cocktails in town along with professional service. In between are numerous clubs and bars, as well as great restaurants and a thriving night market on Sukhumvit road itself, which turns into drink bars late at night. The nightlife in this area is characterized by a high frequency of foreign expats at the clubs giving them a more mixed western-Thai crowd. Especially Thai guys are in minority in many venues around here (though clubs like Narcissus are somewhat an exception). That being said, the tendency is generally that the crowds are truly international in the better places, with places like Bed Supper Club, Narcissus and Q Bar also bringing in international superstar DJ's to further heighten the experience.

Lower Sukhumvit also has the most varied selection of restaurants of any single area in Bangkok. With Korea-towns selection of Korean restaurants, numerous German restaurants especially close to the nightlife areas, the Arab venues of around soi 3 and the many varied other international restaurants spread all over the area, you are guaranteed never to go hungry here. Whatever your preferred cuisine is, whatever your budget is and whatever surroundings you prefer, you are sure to find a suitable venue in this area. Lower Sukhumvit is a favorite area for many established Bangkok expats.
